The Atlantic Wall of Denmark (Part 2)

As promised, here are the next photos from my short trip to a part of the North Atlantic Wall in Denmark.
The coastal strip we visited had various types of bunkers:

Right on the coast are groups of bunkers with machine gun and small artillery fire, a little back is a bunch of crew bunkers as well as more artillery batteries and artillery observation posts.
On top of the highest dunes are the command bunkers of the FuMO 214, a radar called "Seeriese" ("Sea Giant") and of the big "Mammut"-Radar ("Mammoth") that were both used to detect and track allied bomber groups and to guide the German fighters.

The Atlantic Wall of Denmark

Between 1942 and 1945, Nazi Germany built an extensive series of fortifications along continental Europe's and Scandinavia's western coast lines. It was designed as a defense against an invasion of Europe coming from great Britain.
On the beach and in the dunes of the little town of Blåvand in Denmark, various types of bunkers were built.
The beach is lined with the Wehrmacht's machine gun bunkers.
And there was a big radio detection array called "Büffel" (Buffalo) to locate allied bomber groups, complete with a command bunker for the Luftwaffe.

These here are just some photos as a teaser, I will be coming back with some more detailed posts later.

Abandoned Baroque Castle (Part 3)

Here are some more of the pictures I took in the little chateau or mansion or whaterver you may call it :)
I really can't tell you a lot more about it without telling too much about the location. Maybe this: After the German reunification, the building was sold to a private investor for only about 300.000 DM. When the promised investments were never made, the town sued the investor and got the building back.
Nothing much has changed since then, the building is still left to rot.

Abandoned Gardening Center

On the way back from our second location on Sunday, we passed a little ramshackle building with open windows and a couple of greenhouses in the back.
Without hesitation, we stopped and went in for a quick look.
Nothing much interesting, just a little plant nursery - looking as if the owners left in a hurry a couple of years ago and left everything where it stood and with the doors open.
The plants are still there, although no one had watered then for quite some time.

Please excuse the poor picture quality, it was a short stop, so I only used the iPhone...

Abandoned Baroque Castle (Part 2)

Here's the next batch of photos I took at the little chateau surrounded by water.
I was really amazed at the rooms in this building - wall paneling made of dark wood, an oven in almost every room, each with its own chimney and beautifully stuccoed ceilings.
I can only hope that this location will either be refurbished soon or at least stay as untouched as it is now.

Abandoned Baroque Castle

This baroque style manor was built in the first half of the 1740s. It was the residence of the landlords who owned the surrounding areas until 1945.
After the expropriation of the East German land owners after World War II, it was used as a private residence.
The main house is situated on an almost quadratic island surrounded by a moat. The courtyard is accessible through a gate house lined by two large stables.

I've taken a bunch of pictures, so there'll be more than one post about this fantastic location.
As a little teaser of sorts, I'll start with the outside photos.

Abandoned Hospital - Night Time Exploration

Last Night, my wife and I met up with a distant relative who shares our passion for Urban Exploration and we went for a tour of the abandoned hospital.
I have been there so often by now that it almost feels like visiting an old friend, and taking photos in almost complete darkness is always fascinating, so it was a really cool tour which brought out some more very interesting details in the hospital.
